Can I re-roof or do I have to tear off my existing commercial roof?

If you only have one roof on your building that is in good shape, chances are you can save money by installing a new roof without removing the existing roof.

Unfortunately, there are instances where a roof tear-off is required:

  • Your facility already has two roofs: According to law, commercial buildings may not have more than two roofi ng layers. This is to prevent excess weight and stress on the structure of the building.
  • Your facility has an unsafe roof: If your roof is damaged, saturated or unstable, your contractor will need to strip the existing roof to install a new working roof.
  • You currently have a metal roof system in place.
What are the pros and cons of silicone roof coating systems?

Pros:

  • Cost savings by minimizing tear-off
  • Extends roof life
  • New warranty
  • Warranty is renewable with a recoat
  • It's not considered an official roofing system (good for building code compliance)
  • Leaves behind a seamless membrane (seams are the #1 cause of leaks)
  • It's fluid-applied. Goes around penetrations with ease.
  • Can reduce energy expenses

Cons:

  • Nothing sticks to silicone…but more silicone
  • Nothing sticks to silicone…but more silicone

What To Consider When Purchasing a Metal Roof

What's the ballpark cost of the Henry Roof Coating System?

There are many variables that influence cost, such as:

  • Are there any areas of the roof that need raised for proper sloping?
  • Is any tear-off required before the installation?
  • Is a primer or adhesion-enhancer needed?
  • The size of your roof

And many, many more variables. However, we do offer free estimates!

Metal Roofing
What are the benefits of a metal roof?
  • Fire and weather resistant
  • Energy efficient and low-maintenance
  • Available in many colors and styles
  • Environmentally friendly
  • Lifespan of 40+ years
Can metal be installed over existing shingles?

In most cases, yes. Because metal is lightweight, it can often be installed directly over existing shingles, saving time and money on tear-off and disposal.

How much does a metal roof cost?

Metal roofs have a higher upfront cost but deliver exceptional long-term value. Many homeowners see lower energy bills, fewer repairs, and even insurance discounts of up to 30% for metal roofing systems.

Why should I consider a metal roof?

Metal roofing is a strong, lightweight, and energy-efficient option for both homes and businesses. It reflects sunlight to reduce summer cooling costs, offers excellent fire protection, and lasts two to three times longer than standard shingles.

Siding
Is vinyl siding durable?

Yes — vinyl siding resists fading, cracking, and weather damage. It’s designed to last for decades with minimal upkeep, making it a great long-term investment for your home.

How can new siding improve my home?

Properly installed siding adds insulation, reduces noise, and protects your home from the elements. It also improves curb appeal and can significantly increase your home’s value.

What’s the most popular siding material?

Vinyl siding remains the most popular option for homeowners. It’s affordable, energy-efficient, low-maintenance, and available in a wide range of colors and textures.

Gutters
Can I paint my gutters?

Technically yes, but we don’t recommend it. Painting can shorten the lifespan of your gutters and may void manufacturer warranties. If you’re concerned about appearance, ask our team about color options that match your home.

Do I need to clean my gutters?

Yes — open-style gutters collect leaves and debris that can cause blockages or even fire hazards in dry conditions. Installing gutter guards can greatly reduce maintenance needs and extend lifespan.

How long do gutters last?

Standard aluminum gutters typically last about 20 years, while copper systems can last 50 years or more. If you’re replacing your roof, it’s often a good time to inspect or replace your gutters as well.

Why are gutters important?

Gutters collect and redirect rainwater away from your roof, siding, and foundation. Without them, water can cause foundation cracks, mold growth, or siding damage over time.

Windows
What special features are available?

Some windows offer additional benefits like increased security, soundproofing, or insulation.

What are the options for glass?

Consider low-E glass, which can block UV and IR rays, and gas fi lls like argon between panes to improve insulation.

What type of window is best?

The "best" type depends on your needs. Common materials include vinyl and the style you choose (e.g., double-hung, casement).

How do I know how energy-efficient a window is?

Ask about energy efficiency ratings like U-factor (lower is better for insulation), Solar Heat Gain Coefficient (SHGC), and ENERGY STAR certifi cation.

Will new windows save me money?

Yes, new, energy-efficient windows can lower heating and cooling costs.

How much will it cost?

Ask for a detailed quote that includes both the cost of the windows and the labor. Get an estimate in writing.

Do I need to replace my windows or can I repair them?

Repairing is an option for a broken glass pane, but for issues like fogging between panes or warped frames, replacement is often necessary.

Do I need a contractor?

While DIY is possible, it can be costly and time-consuming, so a contractor is often recommended.

Should I replace all my windows at once?

Replacing all windows at once can improve efficiency and curb appeal.

When should I replace my windows?

Replace windows that show visible damage, have drafts, or are causing sudden increases in energy bills. Other signs include fog between panes, condensation on the inside, or difficulty opening/closing.

Replacement Doors
How do you know if a door is installed correctly and functioning correctly?

If all of the functions (hinges, locks, knobs, windows, etc.) work without fl aw, your door is installed correctly and functioning well. If you have any issues, be sure to have those handled quickly to avoid premature wear and tear.

How do you know if a door is made from high-quality materials?

Unless you know and trust your dealer, you won’t know if a door is of high quality until it leaks or has issues. The way around that is to purchase from a dealer with a quality reputation, which guarantees both the installation AND the door itself.

Are there any tax credits or rebates available for purchasing new doors?

If you purchase and install energy-star-rated doors, there is a possibility that you can get a tax credit for doing so. Please consult with your tax professional for additional information.

How much do new doors cost, and what kind of installation is required?

New doors have a variety of prices depending on the amenities you are looking for. They can be very affordable or costly, depending on your taste and your desired features.

What materials are available for doors, and what are their benefits/drawbacks?
  • Vinyl is durable and inexpensive and is remarkably energy efficient.
  • Wood adds a warm feel to the interior of your home while offering the durability and beauty of fi berglass on the exterior.
